Chinese Checkers vs AI
Play Chinese Checkers free in your browser. No download and no sign-up: guide ten marbles across the star board with long chain jumps, challenge four AI levels, face a friend on one screen, or open a room link and keep full move history and replay.
Chinese Checkers is a fast race game played on a six-pointed star board. In this version, two sides start from opposite triangles with ten marbles each, and the goal is simple: move every marble into the far home camp before your opponent does. A move can be a single step into a neighbouring hole or a sequence of jumps over occupied marbles, and the best turns often string several jumps together in one sweeping route.
Why Play Chinese Checkers Here
Everything runs right in your browser. There is no app to install and no account to create, so you can open the page on desktop or mobile and start moving marbles immediately.
This board is built for both solo and local play: four AI levels, move hints, selectable marbles that glow, highlighted destinations, full move history and replay make it easy to learn or compete seriously.
How to Move on the Star Board
On your turn, tap one of your marbles and then choose a highlighted destination. A normal move steps into one empty neighbouring hole. If there is any occupied marble next to you and the hole immediately beyond it is empty, you may jump over that marble instead.
Jumps do not capture. The jumped marble stays on the board, which means a single turn can chain through several different marbles and cover a huge distance if the path is open.
Chain Jumps and Racing Home
The heart of Chinese Checkers is building efficient jump ladders. One marble can leap over friendly and enemy marbles alike, and a well-shaped bridge often matters more than pushing the front runner one small step at a time.
You win when all ten of your marbles reach the opposite home triangle. The side panel keeps a live home count for both colours, so you can instantly see whether your next move improves position or only looks active.
Strategy for Beginners
Do not race only one marble. Spread your pieces so they support each other, because a staggered formation creates chain jumps while a clump of isolated marbles quickly gets stuck behind its own traffic.
Look two turns ahead: sometimes the best move is a short setup that gives you a giant jump next turn. Keep lanes open into the destination camp, and avoid parking a marble where it blocks your own final entries.
Chinese Checkers Tips
- Build bridges of marbles so one move can chain across several jumps.
- Use both friendly and enemy marbles as jump platforms.
- Advance in waves instead of sprinting one marble too far ahead.
- Keep the destination triangle open so your final marbles are not blocked outside.
- Use replay after close games to spot missed long-jump routes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do jumps capture marbles in Chinese Checkers?
No. Unlike Checkers, jumps in Chinese Checkers do not remove anything from the board. You simply leap over occupied holes to land in the empty hole beyond.
How do I win?
Move all ten of your marbles into the opposite home triangle before your opponent does. The board tracks each side's progress live.
Can I play Chinese Checkers against AI or with a friend?
Yes. This version supports four AI difficulty levels, same-device two-player play, and room sharing for online match flow.
Is Chinese Checkers really Chinese?
The modern star-board game is widely known as Chinese Checkers, but it was popularised in Europe from earlier Halma-style race games. The name stuck even though the game itself is not a traditional Chinese classic.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Everything runs in your browser and your local session record is stored on your device, so you can start instantly.
